Our Adoption Procedures Due to the fact that we do not euthanize for lack of space, time limit, treatable illness, or injury, many of our dogs call CHS home for weeks or months. We wish to minimize the stress & anxiety of over-stimulation and the development of cage-protective and self-destructive behaviors. To keep our dogs as calm, content, and adoptable as possible it is necessary for us to minimize traffic in the dog area. If you are interested in adopting a dog or puppy from CHS, profiles of our available dogs are available online or in our lobby. We will gladly arrange one-on-one meetings in the dog yards with any dog that catches your eye. Online Dog Application (MS WORD format). Online Dog Application (Adobe Acrobat, pdf format) The adoption fee for a dog is $165.00. This fee includes spaying/neutering (if old enough), rabies, distemper & bordetella vaccinations, testing for Lyme & heartworm, heartworm preventative, and treatment for worms, fleas and ear mites. The fee is waived for dogs listed as hospice, special needs or senior. |
