Please meet Clairie - our featured cat. Clairie is an independent little girl who comes over for a quick cuddle and then she and her little bobtail are off until she decides to come back for more. Just enough to let you know she cares! She has been at CHS since 10/28/09, and could really use a home of her own.
Our wonderful volunteer, Margot, caught this video of Clairie in one of her adorable moments. Here she is, sitting about 6 inches or so away from her little dish of wet food. She takes her paw and dabs at the food, then brings the paw to her mouth to eat whatever food she got. She then repeats the process. What a character!

Precious
Precious is a beautiful 3-4 year old Calico cat who was found as a stray and taken in by a woman in Brunswick, where she lived for six months. While there, she had a litter of four kittens. The entire little family was then surrendered to CHS when the woman moved to a homeless shelter. Precious is shy and quiet but will respond when her name is called, and will meow at the door to go outside. She is mostly an outdoor cat but is litter box trained. She is skittish around people she does not know, especially men, and does not like other cats. Shy Precious currently holds the tiltle of "longest long-term resident", and is a living reminder of why it is so important to spay or neuter your cats. Her kittens all found homes, now she needs one too! She has been at CHS since 8/12/09!

Cici
This sweet and pretty eight year-old girl had lived with one owner all her life, so it is not surprising that she was terrified upon arriving at the shelter. She is coming around nicely however, and she is ready to move on and be a wonderful companion to someone new. Cici would probably do best in a quiet household. She has been at CHS since 11/23/09.
Chevy
Chevy is a bit shy when you first meet him, but afterwards is quite friendly. Although he came from a home with another cat, it is recommended that he be an only pet as he can be a bit domineering with other animals. He has been at CHS since 11/13/09.

This big boy loves attention. Give him a cheek rub and he becomes a purr machine. He is a mellow 8-10yr old from Freeport who gets along with other cats. He is very friendly and curious. He is the
official greeter in his room, sitting by the glass door so he can watch the activity in the hall---and be the first to capture your attention!

Rimpo was found in Harpswell. He is very affectionate, but has a sensitive stomach. He is currently in foster care.

Harpswell
This big brown tiger female was found as a stray on the Harpswell Road in Brunswick. In contrast to her size she has feet that look tiny because they have been declawed. As a declawed cat she lacks the means to defend herself and should be kept safely indoors. She is fine with other cats and older kids, and as you can see in the photo, she is a love!

sons. When some tiny orphaned kittens were brought to the shelter, she
became a loving foster mom and nursed them. She is good with other cats
and adults, but has not yet been around dogs or children. If you look
closely, you'll see one of her ears is crumpled, almost like a
'cauliflower' ear.

ADOPTED!
Hadley is a five plus year old male neutered black cat in good health. He was found in a neglected condition and smelling of gasoline when he was brought in from Lisbon Falls. Kane
ADOPTED!
Kane is a beautiful tortoise shell tabby. She is extremely shy, and could be considered feral or semi-feral. She could really use a kind and understanding soul to give her a safe home, and help her to overscome her shyness.
Izzy (and her sister, Abby)
BOTH ADOPTED!
Izzy is a long haired dark torti female, 12 years old, but in good health. Because of her advanced age, she will be free of charge to the right big-hearted home. She has been at CHS since 1/14/2010, along with her diabetic sister, Abby.
